Week One
Ideas and Roles
Right from the beginning, our group had decided to create a Virtual Reality game. This was, to us, the more interesting subject, and would provide a real challenge as we have no prior experience in creating a VR game. After our first lecture, we got together to discuss what we wanted the game to be about. We discussed having a grapple function first of all. We got this idea from an anime called 'Attack on Titan'. This soon developed into a near future, alien invasion.
Our next task was to decide roles. We wanted each of us to have a separate role. I decided to work on the effects of the game, and also work on some of the assets. Aaron and Filip are working on assets, but since there is going to be quite a lot of them, I was more than happy to give them a hand as well. I feel like for the first week, this was a pretty productive meeting, and feel we have a fairly good idea on what we need to. The next step will be to research what we can make, and make lists on what needs to be done.

Week Two
Research, References and Modelling
Since the special effects won't need to be implemented until further on down the line, I decided I would try to create a basic weapon for the player to use in the game. I spoke with our group, and we decided a simple pistol would be the best weapon as the 'default'. I gathered a few reference images. These consisted of a mix of images from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and a show called The Orville. Once we were happy with a design, I went on to Maya to create the weapon.
After spending the day working on the model, I made one that I finally felt happy with. It is inspired from a weapon from The Orville that appeared in one episode. I really liked the design, as it was very sleek, and looks futuristic enough to fit with our game. I find modelling very interesting, so my next step will be to work out how to use Substance 3D Painter, and texture the weapon as well.
